It may seem like Africa is far removed from our own communities, our own challenges, our own lives. But we are all connected. We all share the same planet. We are all human.
In Canada we lead sheltered lives. Although we may struggle, we may suffer, our basic needs are met. As much as we might gripe about the healthcare system, at least we have one. We have food banks and shelters and schools. We have a social safety net waiting to catch us if we stumble. We may wish that we had more money but we have one of the highest standards of living in the world. We may not like our politicians, but we have a stable government. We have freedom and we have justice. We live in stable country with all the riches we have a right to expect. The vast majority of the planet does not share in our plenty.
The problems of the world may seem like too much to comprehend, too much to think about. But we can make a difference by supporting projects that seek to tackle some of these global issues. Atsikana Pa Ulendo does just that.
With the goal of creating awareness, gaining knowledge and developing understanding, Silent River Kung Fu is actively promoting this project and we are sponsoring the education of Valentina Phiri.
