· I have found that the most effective way of reaching my goals is to set them down in writing, work out a plan, sign on to a structured framework, hang out in an environment of like-minded people who are also striving for thier own goals, declare my goals publicly, and publicly record my progress and pitfalls. Silent River Kung Fu and the UBBT 7 provide all these things.
My life goals are simple:
· Stay active, fit and healthy
· Continue to learn and master external and internal martial arts
· Travel to key places of interest to learn and to immerse (ie China for Chi Kung, Silk Road to traverse by bicycle)
· Simplify and be happy
· Help other living things
· Become engaged and active in the problems of garbage and the need to progress towards world peace.
UBBT 7 Goals:
· 52 hours of horse stance
· 52,000 pushups
· 52,000 situps
· 26,000 kicks
· 50 board breaks
· 500 Five-Animal Chi Kung Forms
· 50 board breaks
· 500 Tai Chi Sword Forms and at least one public performance with 3 other students
· 500 Double Broadsword forms
· 1500 techniques from Silent River Kung Fu curriculum
· 100 hours of self propelled travel (cycle, kayak, walk)
· 100 hours meditation using “Mindful Knitting”
· Read 6 books on meditation
· Weekly journal on meditation and mindful knitting.
· Donate one blanket and all projects created through mindful knitting to charity
· Read six books on the problem of garbage
· Reduce my food-related garbage by 10% each month for an ultimate goal of 90% reduction.
