Sihing Darcy Regier

I was born Christmas eve of Centennial year. My parents split when I was at the end of grade one. At the age of ten I turned into a young man, working on the farm and attending a small town school. This small town ended up being a long term stay, where I graduated high school in 1984.

The Canadian Armed Forces became a mark on my resume at the age of nineteen. I became a member and flew to Cornwallis, Nova Scotia at the beginning of 1987; graduated from basic training and decided that this was not the life for me. Returned to civilian life and used the next 6 to 7 years to find myself. In 1994, I was searching for change in career and life style.

Olds College became my next adventure. I met my soul mate and was married in between the first and second year of College. After two years of classes, I received a diploma, in Land resource Management. Married and educated.....this brought me to becoming self employed as an oilfield consultant. Our first son was born in 1997 in Calgary, five moves later, from Calgary to an acreage West of Stony Plain, our second son arrived in 2002. In between all the moving, I was still searching to fill a personal need. I sat in on morning class on April 15th, 2003, at Silent River Kung Fu and was a member two mornings later. We moved a couple more times and came to an acreage which we felt would be our last relocation. Shortly after becoming a member of Silent River, one at a time, the rest of my family joined.
Kung fu has become a way of life for me, it has extended my stride every step our my journey. This past year I have challenged my black belt. The inconsistencies with employment during the black belt testing, along with hip, knee and neck injuries, and the later UBBT 7 challenge have kept my physical and mental being at check.

I continue to learn more about myself and my body. Challenging myself through different aspects of life, both physically and mentally, has become my "way of life".
